Purpose
Run jointly by regional associations, the Super City competition features over 100 teams and 1,000 players across the upper North Island.
Age Groups
It covers multiple grades for both boys and girls, including U14, U16, U18, and U20.
Function
For younger age groups (U14), it’s used to build tournament experience. For U16 and U18 divisions, the competition serves as a vital pathway and qualifying stage for teams looking to represent their region at Basketball New Zealand National Championships.
Get Involved
U14s must register with their region and play Tribal Wars as a qualifying tournament. To support the growth and development of the sport for our girls, all sub-associations can enter Girls U14 teams into Super City. The winner of Tribal Wars is able to enter their team into A-Grade division.
For U14 boys and all other age groups, boys and girls, the first step to playing in Super City is to trial for a Northland Representative team. The pathway for that is:
- Register with local association
- Play Tribal Wars
- Be selected to trial (from Tribal Wars)
- Attend trials
- Be selected to play and represent Northland at Super City
